GAME ONE: AUGIE 7, SCSU 5 – Box Score
Augustana College jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first two innings in the initial game of the double header. The Huskies bounced back however behind the offensive power of first year centerfielder Sarah Nohrenberg (Cottage Grove) who went 3-for-3 at the plate with one run scored.
St. Cloud State jumped on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning following a two-run blast over the left center wall by sophomore Sara Sbragia (North St. Paul), which marked her third of the season. The following inning, SCSU knotted the game at 5-5, scoring three runs on five hits.
It came down to the bottom of the seventh frame for the Vikings to score again. With a runner on first and one out in the inning, Augie’s Ally Rutherford smacked a walk-off homer to left center to win the game for the Vikings, 7-5.
SCSU’s Brit Krieg (Hudson, Wis.) earned the start for the Huskies and went 2.0 innings before being relieved by first year Kristin Jakobsen (Elmwood Park, Ill.). Jakobsen pitched 4.1, suffering the loss and striking out two Augie batters.
The Huskies scored five runs on 10 hits and committed no errors in the field.
GAME TWO: AUGIE 10, SCSU 2 (6 innings) – Box Score
St. Cloud State found themselves trailing 6-0 after the first three innings played in the second game of the twin bill. The Huskies rallied to chart two runs in the top of the fifth inning on a two-run homer from senior Rachel Haines (Pepin, Wis.), making it just her second career home run in the Cardinal and Black.
