The Samantha Kanak File

Before SCSU: Originally from Sun Prairie, Wis., Kanak was a three-sport athlete at Sun Prairie High School, participating in softball, volleyball and horseback riding. Coached by Lindi Mittlesteadt in softball, Kanak started three seasons in center field for SPHS. A captain the past two seasons, Kanak landed on the All-Conference First Team, All-District First Team and All-Area Honorable Mention squads during her junior stint in 2010.

Personal: The daughter of Kris and Yvonne Kanak, Samantha attended the Northern National Softball Tournament and the SEAA World Series this past summer in 2010. Named the Most Valuable Player at the Wisconsin State Tournament in 2009 and 2010, Kanak has also played for the Madison Kodiaks Travel Team since 2008. A member of the National Honor Society and Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), Kanak plans to major in biology at St. Cloud State.
