2009 Season: SCSU’s lone senior on the 2009 roster, Rachel Haines, completed her last game in the Cardinal and Black on Apr. 28 against the Minnesota State Mavericks...the daughter of Jim and Bea Haines and a native of Pepin, Wis., Rachel was a four-year starter at second base for the Huskies, last season Rachel was named to the 2008 CoSIDA Academic All-American Second Team, the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V First Team and also to the 2008 Daktronics, Inc. All-North Central Region First Team…she is a three-time NFCA Academic Honoree and a two-time All-North Central Conference Academic winner…Haines holds 10 school records for Husky softball, including 224 career games started and played, she leads the all-time most at bats list with 765 and her 139 career runs scored rank first…the senior also became the school’s all-time career hits leader on Apr. 28, tallying three against Minnesota State, bringing her career total to 239…Haines also holds the school record for most stolen bases in a game with four against Univ. of Science-Philadelphia. (3/1/08) and most stolen bases in a career with 73…posted a season high three RBI’s against Northern State (4/19/09)…charted lone home run of the season and second of her career against Augustana (4/25/09)...a biomedical science major with a 4.0 GPA, Haines was accepted into the University of Minnesota School of Medicine for genetics counseling…team captain.

2008 Season: Junior second baseman from Pepin, Wis….named Academic All-NCC for the second consecutive season…is a CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team choice with a 4.0 GPA in Biomedical Science…2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 5 First Team recipient...named to the 2008 Daktronics, Inc. All-North Central Region First Team …started all 56 games at second base and in the leadoff spot…led team with 189 at bats and 72 hits, the eighth best mark in school history…set new career highs  with a .381 average, 72 hits, 12 doubles, two triples, one home run, 29 RBI, 91 total bases, .481 slugging percentage, 14 walks, .423 on base percentage,  and 93 assists while tying a career high with 40 runs scored…went 20-23 in stolen bases and was caught for the last time on 3/30…three times on the season tallied team high five at bats…tallied 10 hits in the season’s first four games capped off by a 4-4, three run performance in a 13-0 win over Northern State on 2/16 to led the Huskies to a 4-0 start…knocked in career high four RBI on 2/22 in a 12-0 win over Bemidji State….on 3/2 and 3/3 strung together four straight games with two hits  and after a hitless game on 3/5, came back with 11 hits in the next four games including a 4-4 performance on 3/6 in an 8-6 win over Bloomfield College…nine game streak raised average from .385 on 3/1 to .453 on 3/7…set school record with four stolen bases on 3/1 in 6-2 win over Science Philadelphia…closed regular season on a seven game hitting streak that began with 4-4 performance on 4/22 against Bemidji State with a career high four runs…batting average did not fall below .371 all season...recorded five consecutive games with an RBI from 3/1 to 3/3 as the Huskies went 5-0 in those contests…blasted first career home run in the final home game of the season, a solo shot over the left field wall at Historic Selke Field against MSU Moorhead on 4/30…as of 4/28 NCC ranks include fourth in plate appearances, fifth in hits, sixth in stolen bases, sixth in at-bats, seventh in fewest strikeouts, and eighth in runs…51st in NCAA II among toughest to strikeout, and in the first DII stat report led the nation as the toughest player to strikeout, fanning just once in her first 99 at bats...awarded the team's Husky Pride award.

2007 Season: The sophomore second base player was named to the All-NCC Academic team for the first time in her collegiate career...gained NCC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll status...completed the season with a .290 batting average and a .961 fielding percentage...led the team with 200 at-bats and 23 stolen bases... was second on the team with 58 hits and 40 runs scored... started in all 58 games for the 2007 Husky squad...ranks third on the all-time stolen bases category with 42.

2006 Season: Made an immediate impact on the Husky infield at second base with her speed and agility...started in all 57 games for SCSU in her first collegiate season...made 181 at-bats, which ranked second on the team...recorded a .243 batting average, 44 hits, five doubles and a .271 slugging percentage...scored 24 times...ran for a team-best and NCC best 23 stolen bases (23-of-26)...collected 126 put outs and a .971 fielding percentage...tallied her first collegiate hit against Southwest Minnesota State on February 18, 2006 and a personal best four hits against Minnesota Duluth on May 5, 2006 in the NCC Tournament.

High School: A 2005 graduate of Pepin High School...coached by Jim Haines, her father...a two-sport athlete in high school...four-time letterwinner in softball...four-time All-Conference First Team pick...four-time All-District First Team pick...four-time All-Red Wing Area recipient...two-tme All-Red Wing Area Co-Player of the Year...named to the All-State Honorable Mention team in 2003...named to the All-State First Team in 2004 and 2005...team went 74-18 from 2002-2005...two-time letterwinner in volleyball...named All-Conference Honorable Mention...in her softball career, notched 145 hits, 130 runs scored, 81 RBIs, 86 stolen bases and 148 assists in the field.

Personal: Daughter of Jim and Bea Haines of Pepin, Wis. ...born on 10/06/86...graduated Class Valedictorian....earned the Pepin H.S. Anchor Award...named Academic All-State...describes greatest sports thrill as winning four conference championships and going to the state tournament her senior year...says her father and God have had the most influence on her career...enjoys shopping, hanging out with friends and being part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in her spare time...pursuing a biomedical science major at SCSU.
