2009 Season: Named to the 2009 All-NSIC Softball Second Team…appeared in and started in all 59 games in 2009…led the squad with a .373 batting average and 10 doubles…tied for first in the NSIC with seven triples, which also led the Husky team…9-for-10 in stolen base category…third on the team with 127 putouts in the field…second on the team with 31 RBI’s…totaled a career best four RBI’s against U-Mary (4/18/09)…posted career highs with two doubles against Quincy (3/11/09) and two triples against Southwest Minnesota State (3/1/09)….charted a career high five at-bats against Stonehill on 3/8/09...team captain.
2008 Season: First year outfielder from Waterloo, Iowa…started all 56 games…batted .304 (38-125) with a double, two triples, 10 RBI, and 20 runs…recorded slugging percentage of .344 and on base percentage of .367…went 6-8 stealing bases…tallied first career RBI in seasons first game and first career hit came as part of a 2-3, one run day on 2/16 against North Dakota…went 2-2 on 3/1 and on 3/7 went 3-3 with a run scored to raise batting average to .318…average rose to season high .328 after a two game set with Valley City State in the Husky Dome on 3/22 where she went 3-6 in the two wins…grabbed a career high four hits after going 4-4 with one RBI against Concordia-St. Paul on 4/27…tallied eight multi-hit games...made the Dean's List...named to SCSU student-athlete honor roll.
High School: 2007 graduate of Waterloo West High School…played Minnesota Irish U18 softball for coach Kevin McClain…in the summer of 2006 batted .483 with 14 stolen bases…during the 2005-06 winter season batted .545 with a perfect 8-8 in stolen bases…in 2003, 14U team Georgia Starzz was USFA Southeastern Regional Champions and fifth place at the USFA state tournament and USFA “A” world series…also four time letter winner for Waterloo West soccer team…a team captain and team MVP, also a two time All-Conference Honorable Mention and two time All-Metro performer…received Coaches Award as a senior…twice won academic letters and a member of the Honor Roll.
Personal: Daughter of Bruce and Mary Ann Upchurch of Waterloo, Iowa…lists here U12 coach as her greatest sports influence…list scoring a hat trick in soccer against a metro rival as her greatest sports thrill…was a member of Student Senate, FCA, an ambassador, and Informed Republican Students (IRS)…undeclared on a major.
