High School: A 2008 graduate of Rocori High School… in softball Hilsgen received two letters and was awarded with All-Section honors…a three- time team Most Valuable Player… softball captain for two years and two- time All-Conference player…voted her team’s Most Dedicated and landed on the St. Cloud Times All-Area softball squad… earned three letters in basketball… team captain and two- time All- Conference player… some of her athletic honors include Outstanding Senior Athlete Award and Wendy’s Heisman School Representative…her records as a senior were a .469 batting average and leading scorer in 2007-2008 for basketball.
Personal: The daughter of Cliff and Cori Hilsgen… says that her parents, brother and sister all have had the greatest influence on her career… Hilsgen says that her greatest sports experience was beating Cathedral, who was the No. 1 seed, 10-0 when her team was ranked No. 4…her academic honors consist of Academic All-State for basketball and softball and the Distinguished Academic Achievement Award… Melanie graduated in the top-10 of her class… in her free time Hilsgen enjoys deer hunting, fishing, being outdoors, and hanging out with friends and family.
