2009 Season: Started in all 57 games that she appeared in…played in right field…was second on the squad with a .347 batting average…in 190 at-bats, had a team second best 34 runs scored and 66 hits…posted 18 RBI’s on the season and led the Husky squad with 17 stolen bases (17-of-21) in 2009…charted a career high three runs scored against Stonehill on 3/9/09…tabbed a career best two RBI’s in back-to-back games this season...ranked 5th in the NSIC with 66 hits and 2nd in the league with 216 total plate appearances... her 21 steal attempts ranked 4th in the league...garnered the Olga B. Satre Hart Scholarship by maintaining a 3.0 grade point average or higher.
2008 Season: First year outfielder from Frankfort, Ill….started 55 games in rookie campaign…on a team that regularly started six first year’s, Laas led with a .325 average (51-157) and 32 runs scored…also knocked in 11 runs while hitting three doubles and one home run to slug .363…earned 18 walks and maintained an on base percentage of .392…on 4/27 in a 2-0 victory over Wayne State tallied two sac’s to give her 17 on the season breaking the 17-year-old record of 16 set in 1991 by Mary Jensen and finished the season with 19…started first career game in the season opener and went 2-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in the 5-0 win over Northern State on 2/15…recorded two hits in six of the season’s first 13 games…average rose to a season high.421 on 3/1 after a 1-2 performance in a 2-0 win over Science Philadelphia…tallied first career RBI on 2/16 in 13-0 win over NSU…first career three hit game came on 4/23 going 3-4 in a 7-3 loss to Minnesota Duluth…stole career high two bases on 3/1 against Science Philadelphia…maintained batting average above the .400 mark for six consecutive games from 2/24 to 3/3…recorded 15 multi-hit games including 2-4 performance on 5/3 against North Dakota with an RBI in the Huskies dramatic 12-11 win…in five games tabbed two runs…made just four errors in left field.
High School: 2007 graduate of Lincoln-Way East High School…played for coach Aimee Lonigro…three sport athlete garnering two letters each in softball, tennis and track & field…All-Conference athlete in softball where team made it to the 2007 Final Eight…also All-Conference in tennis and track & field…member of 4x100 team that took 11th in state…also sixth in state for the indoor long jump.
Personal: Daughter of Michael and Denise Laas of Frankfort, Illinois…member of the honor roll in High School…lists High School coach Aimee Lonigro as the biggest influence on her athletic career…lists greatest sports thrills as making it to the final eight in state in softball as well as beating Lockport Township in the 4x100 in an indoor race…also enjoys running and working out when she is not playing…an elementary education major with a minor in outdoor endeavors.
