SOCCER: Gazich Named to Academic All-District V Team

St. Cloud State University junior Teresa Gazich (Arden Hills/Mounds View H.S.) has been named to the 2009 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District V College Division Soccer Team. A starter at center back for the Huskies, Gazich was a third team selection on the Academic All-District V squad.
The ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District V College Division Soccer Team recognizes academic and athletic excellent among college student-athletes. To be eligible for nomination to the Academic All-District ballot, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore and have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). The student-athlete must also have made a significant contribution to their team's success in 2009.
The Academic All-District V College Division team is comprised of student-athletes from NCAA II, NCAA III and NAIA schools in the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana.
Gazich has been a three-year standout on defense for the Huskies. In 2009, Gazich has helped the SCSU defense post a 0.72 goals against average in 18 games this season. She has also helped lift the Huskies to one of their best records in recent years at 10-4-4 overall, 9-2-2 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
The daughter of Jeff and Sue Gazich of Arden Hills, Gazich is a mass communication major at St. Cloud State University.
The #3 seed Huskies will return to action on Nov. 4 with a 7 p.m. game at Husky Stadium against Bemidji State. This game will mark the first round of the NSIC playoffs for 2009. The winner of the game will then advance to the NSIC semifinals (and finals) on Nov. 6 and Nov. 8. The site of the final rounds will be determined by the results of first round play on Nov. 4. The highest remaining seed after the game on Nov. 4, will serve as the host site for the games on Nov. 6 and Nov. 8.
