Saturday vs. Northern State
The Huskies charged back from a 1-0 first half deficit to earn a 5-1 win over Northern State University Saturday at Husky Stadium.
St. Cloud State had numerous scoring opportunities in the first half, but could not get on the scoreboard after posting nine shots, as Stephanie Connolly scored Northern State's only goal of the contest with seven minutes remaining in the first half.
After the goal, the Huskies out shot the Wolves 16-3 and poured on five goals. Junior Gabrielle Najera (Longmont, Colo.) scored the first Husky goal with a corner kick that was sent across the box, where the Wolves net minder deflected it into the net to tie the game.
Four minutes and one second later, the Huskies used the corner kick to their advantage as Najera sent the kick in front of net where sophomore Alexandra Pafko (Blaine) headed it to junior Lindsey Sather (Eden Prairie) for her fifth game-winner of the season.
The Huskies continued scoring at a head spinning pace, as freshman Margie Jancik (Inver Grove Heights) scored her first collegiate goal at the 72:39 mark. Sophomore Chelsey Permenter (Omaha, Neb.) added her third assist of the season on the play.
St. Cloud State struck again at the 75:17 mark, as sophomore Kyrsten Wallace (Bismarck, N.D.) scored her first goal of the season on a pass from senior Chelsey Scheller (Maple Grove) and then scored her second goal of the afternoon 10 minutes later to put an exclamation on a 5-1 game.
