St. Cloud, Minn. - (VIDEO INTERVIEW INCLUDED IN STORY!!!) The St. Cloud State soccer team won its third straight game in a 3-0 lopsided victory over Minnesota State University Moorhead at Husky Stadium on Friday afternoon.
In a wet and windy game, the Huskies (5-2-3, 4-0-1 NSIC) out shot the Dragons 22 to 6, as St. Cloud State put 14 shots on net to record the team’s fourth shutout of the season.
The Huskies defense did not give up a single shot until the 41:23 mark, as sophomore Alexandra Pafko (Blaine) continued her offensively brilliant play Friday, scoring two goals to up her season total to a team-leading five.
Pafko got the Huskies on the board at the 28:14 mark, when fellow sophomore Kyrsten Wallace assisted Pafko on shot that slide past the Dragons goalkeeper.
Pafko came out of the locker room at halftime and put up a quick goal just 3:02 into the half to take a 2-0 lead.
Junior Lindsey Sather (Eden Prairie) added the final goal of the day as sophomore Laura Moline (Eden Prairie) connected with Sather on a crossing pass to make it 3-0, as 22 minutes remained in the game.
Senior goalkeeper Elizabeth Kelly (Omaha, Neb.) made her 10th start in net for the Huskies, making three saves and earning her fifth win of the season, while senior KaitlinKelly (West Allis, Wis.) made her first appearance of the season in net for St. Cloud State. She also made three saves in the game.
The Huskies will next play on at 1 p.m. Sunday at Husky Stadium against the University of Minnesota, Crookston Golden Eagles.
