Moorhead, Minn. – After splitting for four straight weeks, the St. Cloud State soccer team broke through to claim a perfect weekend today, Oct. 5, with their 3-0 victory on the road against MSU Moorhead (5-4-1, 2-3-1).  Three different Huskies found the goal, and five players netted points in the win.

St. Cloud State (6-4-0, 4-2-0) got on the board first when Mary Sertich (Duluth, Minn.) grabbed her first goal since the season opener.  Tara Evangelist (Mahtomedi, Minn.) uncorked a corner kick that bounced off Alexandra Pafko (Blaine, Minn.) before Sertich controlled it and knocked it in for the score.  Sertich was forced to miss four games earlier in the season with an injury.

With the assists, it marks the third consecutive game with a point for both Evangelist and Pafko.

SCSU went up 2-0 as Amy Lindstrom (Fridley, Minn.) got in the act and knocked in another Evangelist corner kick.  Lindstrom, a defender, tallied her first goal since Oct. 20, 2006, her first year with the Huskies.

As was the case yesterday, Lindsey Sather (Eden Prairie, Minn.) rounded out the scoring, putting the final ball in the net. Evangelist nabbed her third assist, which marks a career high.

With her fourth goal of the season, Sather makes it a quartet atop the Husky leader board, and she joins Pafko, Evangelist and Kyrsten-Flynn Wallace (Bismarck, N.D.) as four goal scorers.

Elizabeth Kelly (Omaha, Neb.) played the full 90:00 minutes in the goal and collects her second shutout of the season, and career high sixth win.

The win is the third straight by the Huskies, marking their first three-game winning streak since early in the 2006 season, something accomplished just nine other times in the 15 year history of the program.  It is also the third straight win by shutout, which is something that has never been done in the history of Husky soccer.

With six victories, the Huskies boast their highest win total since the seven-win 2004 squad.

SCSU gets to return to the friendly confines of Husky Stadium for a four game home stand that begins this weekend with Minnesota Duluth (3-7-2, 3-1-2) and Bemidji State (8-4-0, 2-4-0), on Oct. 11 and 12 respectively.  Each game is slated for a 1:00 pm start.  Both teams went 1-1 over the weekend.
