Pafko Hat Trick Leads Husky Soccer to 4-0 Win

Crookston, Minn. – Alexandra Pafko (Blaine, Minn.) scored three first half goals to lead the St. Cloud State soccer team (5-4-0, 3-2-0) to a 4-0 road win over Minnesota, Crookston (1-8-1, 0-5-0) today, Oct. 4.
Pafko ripped off six shots in the match, all of which landed on goal en route to her three goal performance. Her first score came just 1:40 into the contest off a pass from Tara Evangelist (Mahtomedi, Minn.) to give the Huskies the early lead. Then, before five minutes had ticked off the clock, Pafko found the net again. This time at the 4:30 mark off a pass from Gabrielle Najera (Longmont, Colo.) on a shot that bounced off the left post before settling in the back of the net.
Her final goal came at the 22:59 mark, this time from Jessie Cody (Menomonie, Wis.), and SCSU was in cruise control leading 3-0.
Finally Lindsey Sather (Eden Prairie, Minn.) got into the scoring mix late in the game with an unassisted goal at 81:51 for the final 4-0 margin. The Huskies managed 12 shots in each half to finish with 24 on the day, and landed 15 on goal, compared to just seven for the Golden Eagles.
Elizabeth Kelly (Omaha, Neb.) earns her fifth win of the season in goal, but will have to split the shutout, as her and KaitlinKelly (West Allis, Neb.) each played 45:00 minutes in the net. Elizabeth Kelly tallied three saves, while KaitlinKelly stopped all four shots she faced.
SCSU has now outscored Minnesota, Crookston 11-0 this season, including their 7-0 non-conference win earlier this fall in St. Cloud.
The three goals, six points, and six shots represent career highs for Pafko, who now leads the team with 11 points. Joining her atop the charts is Evangelist whose assist on the day gives her 11 points as well.
At 5-4 SCSU is now over the .500 mark for the first time since they were 1-0 on Aug. 30 after their season opening win. The Huskies also move to 3-2 in the NSIC. SCSU will look to start a winning streak tomorrow at 1:00 when they travel to take on MSU Moorhead (5-3-1, 2-2-1). The Dragons grabbed their second league win this afternoon with a 3-0 decision over Concordia.
