The Becky Heiberger Story

Becky Heiberger begins her second season as head coach at St. Cloud State University in 2009.

In her first season at SCSU, Heiberger led the Huskies to a solid 8-8-2 record, and a 6-5-2 record in the highly competitive Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. SCSU also qualified for play in the 2008 NSIC tournament, thanks to its seventh place overall finish in the league. SCSU's eight wins were the most since 2004, and it marked the team's best win total in team history.

Heiberger previously served as the head women’s soccer coach at the University of South Dakota from
2005 to 2007. At USD, her teams were ranked among the top ten in the regional rankings and in 2005,
Heiberger’s Coyotes participated in the NCAA Division II soccer tournament. That same year, the team was nationally ranked for the first time in program history at No. 6.becky

At USD, Heiberger’s teams charted a 31-23-5 overall record, and she gained North Central Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2005. Her players gained numerous conference and regional honors at USD, and Heiberger also served as the director of the University of South Dakota Soccer Camps youth instructional program.

Her coaching experience has included stints as a graduate assistant coach at Creighton University (2004) and the University of Tennessee-Martin (2003). In 2007, Heiberger completed her masters of science in recreation administration at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Heiberger served as an assistant director at Bruce Erickson’s Soccer Camps and Academies in Omaha, Neb. in 2004-05, and worked with the camp staff from 2000 to 2003. Her coaching resume also includes work with Omaha’s NFC Soccer Club and the West Omaha Gladiator Soccer Club.

She has two coaching licenses from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and the United States Soccer Federation.

A standout collegiate player from 1998 to 2002 at NCAA Division I Creighton University, Heiberger served as a team captain in 2001 and 2002. She helped lead Creighton to the Missouri Valley Conference regular season and tournament title in 2002, and an NCAA tournament appearance in 2002. In 1999, Heiberger earned All-MVC second team honors at Creighton.

A native of Sioux Falls, S.D., Heiberger currently resides in nearby Sauk Rapids.

Jessica Nei

Jessica Nei begins her second season as a graduate assistant coach for the Huskies in 2009.  A resident of St. Cloud and a 2003 graduate of Apollo High School, Nei completed four seasons as a goalkeeper with the Bison at North Dakota State University in 2007.  Nei helped the Bison make the move to the NCAA Division I level and she won 10 games in the nets during her college career.

Nei was a physical education and health education major at NDSU.  As a prep athlete, Nei earned All-Conference, All-Area and All-State honors in soccer and was selected her team’s MVP.  She also competed in hockey and softball at Apollo.  She is the daughter of Robert and Joanne Nei of St. Cloud.

 

 

Paty Fields

Paty FieldsAthletic Trainer

Paty Fields joined the SCSU Athletic Training staff in 2008-09 as a graduate assistant.  A Certified Athletic Trainer, Fields worked previously at Ridgeview Rehab Specialties in Waconia, Minn., where she provided medical coverage for both Mound-Westonka High School and Delano High School.  Fields is a product of Minnesota State University in Mankato where she graduated with a double major in Physical Education Non-Teaching Exercise Science and Athletic Training, as well as a minor in Corporate Community Fitness.  At Minnesota State she worked with the football, men’s hockey, and track & field teams while also gaining experience at nearby Bethany Lutheran College working with baseball, softball, soccer, tennis, basketball and volleyball.  After graduating from MSU, Fields worked with the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y., as the Competitive Club Sports Athletic Trainer.  There she helped provide medical coverage for all 26 Club Sports teams of the USMA.  Fields also served five and a half years in the United State Marine Corps where she reached the rank of Sergeant.  She is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), Minnesota Athletic Trainers Association (MATA), and the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA).
