Nordic Ski: NCAA Central Region - 9th (Day 1)
NORDIC SKI: Huskies in Ninth Place After Day One

The St. Cloud State nordic ski team owns a ninth place position after day one of the 2009 NCAA Central Region Nordic Ski Championships in Houghton, Mich. on Feb. 28. The Huskies posted a total of 30 points after the first day's 5K classic race.
Northern Michigan leads the teams with 95 points, while Michigan Tech ranks second at 82. Alaska (71), UW-Green Bay (70), Gustavus Adolphus (60), St. Benedict's (53), St. Scholastica (41), St. Olaf (37), SCSU (30) and Northland (12) complete the field after day one.
Individually, SCSU was led by Jenny Beckman with a 37th place time of 20:47.5. Diane Venzendy placed 40th at 20:47.5 and Mariah Featherly placed 42nd overall at 20:50.1. Amy Peterson added a 47th place time of 20:58.5 and Katelyn Prow was 58th at 23:30.4. Elizabeth Willis finished in 60th place at 23:52.9, while Melissa Walden (63rd at 30:15.1) and Elizabeth Camp (64th at 31:50.8) completed the SCSU racers at the meet.
The regional meet in Houghton, Mich. will conclude on March 1.
