NORDIC SKI: Huskies Place Fourth at Minnesota Relays

Collegeville, Minn. - The St. Cloud State University nordic ski squad competed at the Minnesota College Relay Race on Sunday, Jan. 18, in Collegeville. The race was held on the trails at St. John's University, and it featured squads from SCSU, St. Benedict's, St. Olaf, Gustavus Adolphus and St. Scholastica. The race was comprised of a relay team of two skiers both skiing a 6k classical course before finishing with a 5.5 skate race.
SCSU was led at the race by Diane Vezendy and Amy Peterson, who placed sixth with a time of 1:26.32. Mariah Featherly and Jenny Beckman added an eighth place time of 1:27.14 in the race for the Huskies. The SCSU contingent was completed by Christy Ringsmuth and Elizabeth Willis, who placed 17th with a time of 1:36.49. SCSU's Katelyn Prow also competed in the race along with Gustavus' Anika Ferber, and the pair combined for a time of 1:45.34.
As a team, the Huskies placed fifth with eight points. St. Scholastica won the meet with 13 points. Gustavus Adolphus placed second with 12 points while St. Olaf and St. Ben's each placed third with 11 points. Individually, St. Olaf's Kaitlyn Maine and Shaina Short won the meet with a time of 1:21.01.
SCSU will continue its season on Jan. 24-25, with a trip to the Mt. Itasca Supertour races in Grand Rapids, Minn.
