NORDIC SKI: Huskies Place Fourth at Saints Invite

The St. Cloud State University nordic ski squad placed fourth at the Saints Invitational on Sunday, Jan. 11, in Collegeville, Minn.  The race was sponsored by St. John's University and the College of St. Benedict.

SCSU posted 42 points at the race, which was a 11K skate style race on the track in the woods at St. John's.  Gustavus Adolphus won the race with 62 points, while St. Benedict's was second at 51, and St. Olaf placed third with 46 points.  Minnesota Duluth was fifth in the race with 22 points and Wisconsin-Green Bay was sixth with 19 points.

Individually, GAC's Kelly Chaudoin won the race with a time of 34:28.00.  SCSU's Diane Venzendy was the Huskies' top placer with an 11th place finish of 39:08.00.  Teammate Jenny Beckman placed 14th in the race with a time of 40:46.00, and Mariah Featherly placed 16th overall with a time of 41:21.00.

Other Huskies in the race included Amy Peterson, who placed 27th with a time of 43:29.00 and Christina Ringsmuth, who placed 31st with time of 44:33.00.

On Jan. 18, the Huskies will participate in the Minnesota College Cup in St. Cloud.
