SCSU Nordic Ski Places Ninth at Regional Meet

Biwabik, Minn. - The St. Cloud State University nordic ski team placed ninth at the 2008 NCAA Central Regional Championship meet on Feb. 16-17, at the Giant's Ridge Ski Area in Biwabik, Minn. The Huskies complete the two-day tournamet with a total of 34 points, while Northern Michigan won the team title with 166 points. This was the final NCAA qualifying meet of the 2008 season for the Huskies.
Freshman Diane Vezendy led the Huskies with a 30th place finish at 38:09.6 and Mariah Featherly placed 32nd in the same race with a time of 38:15.2.
Other top SCSU placers included Jenny Beckman in 41st place at 38:46.6, and Amy Peterson placed 42nd at 38:53.7. SCSU's Ashley Scherping placed 51st with a time of 41:55.8 and teammate Emily Simak placed 52nd in the classic race at 44:26.8. Katelyn Prow was 53rd in the race at 44:28.0, and Elizabeth Willis placed 55th at 45:44.1. Claire Williams completed the group with a 57th place time of 49:30.1
