NORDIC SKI: Day One Results from Cable

Cable, Wis. - The St. Cloud State nordic ski team competed at the FIS SuperTour at Telemark in Cable, Wis. this weekend. On Jan. 31, the competition featured a 5K classic race and the races completed on Feb. 1, with a 10K freestyle race.
SCSU's top athlete at the event on Jan. 31 was Diane Vezendy, who posted a time of 20:20.7 in the race. She placed 32nd among CCSA racers at the event. The top CCSA finisher was Laura Dewitt of Northern Michigan with a time of 17:35.3.
SCSU's contingent also featured Mariah Featherly, who placed 38th with a time of 20:41.2. Amy Peterson added a 45th place time of 21:09.7 and Jenny Beckman placed 47th with a time of 21:24.3. Teammate Christine Ringsmuth was 52nd in the CCSA race with a time of 21:54.2, while Elizabeth Willis was 61st at 23:00.0. The group was completed by Katelyn Prow in 64th place (24:25.4) and Elizabeth Camp was 68th at 35:19.8.
The 10K freestyle race was won by Northern Michigan's Marie Soderamn with a time of 24:29. Beckman led SCSU in the 10K freestyle with a 33rd place time of 27:19. Featherly added a 41st finish of 28:26, and Vezendy placed 42nd among the CCSA pack with a time of 28:37.5. Peterson placed 45th in the 10K race at 28:50.6 and teammate Willis was 53rd at 29:43. Ringsmuth finished in 59th place at 31:29.7 and Prow placed 61st at 31:37.2.
The Huskies will continue their 2008-09 season on Feb. 14-15 with a trip to the Telemark SuperTour in Hayward, Wis.
