Melissa Walden
Year: Sophomore
Hometown: Deep River, Ont.
High School: Macken H.S.
Walden’s best times in the 5 and 10k came at the Mt. Itasca NorAm Super Tour with finishes of 22:40 and 38:56. Her highest individual finishes came at the FIS Super Tour was 52nd in the 4.8K Freestyle and a 50th in the 10K Classic. At the Minnesota All College-University Championships she teamed with Katy Shaver to take 13th in the combined duo race.
Walden is a 2006 graduate of Mackenzie H.S. in Deep River, Ontario. She finished fifth at the Ontario Cup Circuit, 18th at Canadian Nationals and was a three-time conference champion and team MVP. Off the skis, she was a standout on the cross-country and track teams, as she finished sixth in the province in the 3000 meters and was a three-time regional qualifier. On the cross-country course she was also a four-time EOSSA qualifier in cross-country. The daughter of Jon and Deb Walden, she is a physical education major at SCSU.
