2010-11: Became a mainstay on the Huskies blue line in 2010-11…appeared in all 35 games as a sophomore defender…put away goals against Minnesota State on Nov. 5 and Feb. 12…added her third point of the season with an assist against Wisconsin in Dec. 11 in the National Hockey Center…fired off a season-best five shots on goal against MSU on Feb. 11 in the Huskies lone win of the season…18/36 PIM…All-WCHA Academic honoree.
2009-10: Voted the team’s Most Improved Player after appearing in 30 games for the Huskies during her rookie stint in 2009-10…dished out first career point with a helper at Brown on Nov. 27 in a huge 5-4 non-conference victory…scored her first career goal at North Dakota on the power play in a crucial 2-1 WCHA win…that goal proved to be the game-winner for SCSU…totaled 10 points (4g, 6a) on the blue line…fired off 28 shots and was 14-28 in PIM…plus/minus was -6…tallied second power play goal of the season at Wisconsin (1/23/10) in yet another big 4-3 league victory at the Kohl Center.
Before SCSU: Originally from St. Louis Park, Lisa Martinson signed with the Huskies as a defender from St. Louis Park High School…coached by Mike Peluso, Martinson is an All-North Suburban Conference hockey player for the Orioles…the three-time letterwinner has also gained team Most Valuable Player honors as a team captain in hockey…sidelined during the 2007-08 season due to an injury, Martinson has posted 79 career points (50g, 29a) as a blue liner heading into her final prep season.
Personal: Martinson, who is a psychology major at St. Cloud State, is the daughter of Phil and Lynn Martinson.
