2006-07: The junior goaltender posted a 2-4-4 overall record...set new school record for most ties in a season with four...led the team with a .915 save percentage...backstopped the Huskies with a season high 41 saves against Wisconsin on Oct. 7, 2006...played 630:21 minutes...totaled 301 saves with a 2.67 GAA....named USCHO.com Defensive Player of the Week and WCHA Defensive Player of the Week on Dec. 12, 2006, after posting two ties on Dec. 8-9, 2006, against #1 Wisconsin in the National Hockey Center.

2005-06: In her sophomore season, Newell appeared in 15 games and started in 12...had a season record of 6-5-0...played in 725:40 minutes with a GAA of 2.73...backstopped 312 saves with a save percentage of .904...in her career, Newell has amassed a record of 10-10-1 and a save percentage of .900 in 27 games played...sits first on the SCSU all-time best Goals Against Average with a .286 career GAA.

2004-05: First year goaltender took over for St. Jacques early in the season...appeared in 12 games for the Huskies and made 10 starts...earned her first collegiate win and shutout on Oct. 23, 2004 against North Dakota in the NHC...had 276 saves on the season with a GAA of 3.00...earned a 4-5-1 record.

PRIOR TO SCSU:  Was a two-sport athlete for the Xavier College Prep HS Gators... was voted Hockey Player of the Month in Nov. of 2001 for hockey...named her team’s MVP for hockey in 2001-2002... named hockey All-Star in 2001... she recently played as a starter for the Wisconsin Wild 19U team and played for the Phoenix Firebirds in Arizona. Newell was also the top USA goalie prospect out of the Rocky Mountain region. Her father Rick Newell played professional hockey.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Rick Newell and Lesley Lyons-Newell of Phoenix, Ariz. ...born on 4/15/86...her father has had the biggest influence on her career... earned the Merci Award (most volunteer hours in the Phoenix chapter of National Charity League) twice in 2002 and 2003...majoring in psychology and communications studies at SCSU.
