2010-11: Arguably one of the best Husky goaltenders to don the CST, St. Cloud State’s senior goalie Ashley Nixon leaves the Husky program holding seven goaltending records, including most ties (13), most saves per game (28.73), most shutouts with six (tied with Lauri St. Jacques), most career goalie points (6a), most saves in a season with 1,020 (set during the 2009-10 season), best season save percentage with .926 (set during the 2009-10 season) and most minutes played in a season with 1,937 (set during the 2009-10 season)….also completed her hockey career ranked second all-time with 2,988 career saves between the pipes…Nixon’s 31 victories (31-55-13) are second best behind former Husky Laura Gieselman (34-30-5), her .901 career save percentage falls just behind former Husky Kendall Newell (.908) and her 104 games played in goal are eight games shy of the goalie school record (112 – Laura Gieselman)… a five-time WCHA Defensive Player of the Week selection and 2007 WCHA Rookie of the Week choice…a 2009 WCHA All-Star…completed senior stint with a 1-28-1 mark, 947 saves, a .872 save percentage and a 5.08 GAA in 1642.08…tied the school’s career shutout record with SCSU’s lone 2-0 win of the season on Feb. 11 against Minnesota State in the NHC.
2009-10: Nixon earned a 13-10-8 record between the pipes for the Huskies during her junior stint…her 13 wins were the most in a season for the Blaine native…led the squad with a 2.54 goals against average, a .926 save percentage and 1020 saves…she backstopped the Huskies with a season-high 54 saves in a huge 4-2 victory over the national defending Wisconsin Badgers on Nov. 21 in the National Hockey Center…her 2.54 GAA ranked seventh in the league, her .926 save percentage ranked fourth in the league and her .548 winning percentage ranked fourth in the WCHA…her 1020 saves were the most in a season for Nixon…appeared in 34 games for the Huskies and played in 1937:18 minutes…named the WCHA’s Defensive Player of the Week three times this season…was 3-of-6 in PIM…garnered two shutouts in 2009-10 and now ranks second all-time at SCSU with five career shutouts…Nixon now holds four SCSU career records with most ties (12), most saves per game (27.58), best save percentage (.915), and best GAA (2.68).
2008-09: Had first career shutout in season opener at Quinnipiac on Oct. 3…made two saves for 2-1 win in first-ever shootout in SCSU and WCHA history against Minnesota Duluth on Oct. 17…made 82 saves on 85 shots in two games versus UMD to capture WCHA and USCHO.com Defensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 22…made 43 saves on Oct. 17 against UMD…posted 18 saves with 3-0 shutout victory over Brown on Oct. 24, her second career shutout…won two games in a single weekend for first time at Minnesota State on Nov. 14-15…earned third shutout with 20 saves against Bemidji State on Nov. 21…stopped 30 Buckeye shots in 4-3 win over Ohio State on Jan. 17…posted a career high 52 saves against Minnesota Duluth in 4-3 victory…stopped 28 shots in 4-1 victory over Bemidji State on Valentine’s Day…had solid WCHA Playoff series against MSU, saving 93 of 97 shots and allowing just four goals in three games, picking up one win…finished season with 11-14-3 record…picked up two assists on the year and is the single season and career leader in goalie scoring for SCSU.
2007-08: Named team’s Rookie of the Year...went 6-3-1 her freshman season, spending 606:50 minutes on the ice…recorded first career victory against North Dakota by stopping 24 of 25 UND shots…set season high with 34 saves in win over Bemidji State on Dec.9…won six straight starts from Nov. 10-Feb. 2…recorded first career point with an assist against Ohio State on Jan. 12…had first career tie at Robert Morris on Oct. 27.
BEFORE SCSU: A 2007 graduate of Blaine High School…named the 2007 Let’s Play Hockey Senior Goalie of the Year…two-time All-State player…started for the Bengals the past three seasons…ended her season with a 1.74 goals against average and a .935 save percentage to go along with eight shutouts for the 16-8-3 Bengals in 2006-07...a three-time All-Northwest Suburban Conference player…was the top-ranked goaltender in the USA Hockey Player Development Camps in 2006 after posting a .970 save percentage and giving up just two goals in Lake Placid, N.Y. …named her team’s 2005 Rookie of the Year after leading the Bengals to a conference championship…2006 and 2007 team MVP choice…lettered in tennis.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Scott and Mary Nixon…born on 11/7/88…her older sister Sammy played for the Huskies from 2005-09…was featured in Sports Illustrated in February of 2007…says her family and the BHS coaching staff have had the greatest influence on her career.
