The Amanda Arbogast File
Before SCSU: Coached by Ron Hendrickson, Amanda Arbogast helped guide her Eveleth-Gilbert Area prep team to the Minnesota State Class A tournament for the second time in the past three years, including a fourth place finish during her senior stint. She led the Northland area in scoring with 35 goals and 25 assists for 60 points in 2010-11. Arbogast’s second-half surge this season helped spark her high school team’s playoff run, as she tabbed 13 goals and six assists in six playoff contests to help lead the Golden Bears to their first state tournament victory. For her efforts in 2010-11, Arbogast became the first girls’ hockey player in the history of the Golden Bears program to be named the Duluth News Tribune Player of the Year.
Originally from Virginia, Minn., Arbogast is a three-sport standout athlete at Virginia High School. She lettered six times in hockey, earning Associated Press All-State Honorable Mention honors four times during her high school career. In 2010-11 alone, Arbogast garnered the Herb Brooks Award for Class A, was a Hobey Baker Award Winner for character, landed on the Girls’ State Class A All-Tournament squad and charted an All-State Honorable Mention nod.
Personal: A five-time Minnesota State participant in tennis, Arbogast has lettered six times in tennis and four times in track and field at VHS. The daughter of John and Mary Arbogast, Amanda is an honor roll student and a member of Habitat for Humanity.
