Duluth, Minn. - St. Cloud State University men's hockey dropped a tough 5-1 decision at Minnesota Duluth on Nov. 29.  The loss dropped the Huskies record to 8-6-0, 3-5-0 WCHA, while UMD moved to 6-4-4, 3-4-3 WCHA.

The Bulldogs charged to a 1-0 lead at 15:31 of the first period with a power play goal by Justin Fountaine, as assists were credited to Josh Meyers and Evan Oberg.

The Huskies evened the score at 1-1 with a power play goal by junior defender Garrett Raboin (Detroit Lakes) at 19:33.  He was assisted on the play by senior forward John Swanson (St. Cloud/Tech) and sophomore forward Garrett Roe (Vienna, Va.).  The goal was Raboin's fourth goal of the season and his second power play marker of the season.  The play on the advantage snapped a four-game streak without a power play goal for the Huskies.

In the second period, UMD regained a one-goal lead with an even-strength goal by Jordan Fulton at 9:28.  Assists were provided on the score by Fountaine and Jack Connolly.

Minnesota Duluth padded its lead in the contest to 3-1 with a four-on-four goal by Mike Connolly at 11:20 of the third period.  UMD's Michael Gergen and Raboin were both in the penalty box with tripping calls when the goal was scored.  Assists on the play were posted by MacGregor Sharp and Meyers.

The Bulldogs added a bit of insurance to their lead in the third period with Fulton's second goal of the night at 17:10.  He was assisted on the even-strength play by Jack Connolly and Fountaine.  The goal gave UMD a 4-1 lead in the contest.

To complete the night, UMD's Kyle Schmidt scored on an unassisted shorthanded breakaway at 19:53 of the third period.

In the nets, UMD's Alex Stalock was credited with the victory as SCSU's Jase Weslosky suffered the loss with 31 saves.  In the game, UMD outshot the Huskies 36-20.

The Huskies will continue their season on Dec. 5, with a 7:37 p.m. road game at Minnesota State in Mankato.  To complete the weekend, SCSU will be back home at the NHC on Dec. 6, for a 7:07 p.m. game against the Mavericks.  Great tickets are available for this important WCHA game, and they can be purchased at the SCSU Athletic Ticket Office.  For complete information, please call 1-877-SCSUTIX or 320-308-2137.
