Player Profile
2010-11: Played in 35 games in junior season at SCSU... 2011 WCHA Scholar Athlete... named to the All-WCHA Academic squad... had six goals and nine assists in 2010-11... recorded both a goal and assist on three different occasions (Nov 13 against Nebraska Omaha, Feb 12 at UMD and Feb 26 vs Wisconsin.
2009-10: Novak gained 2010 WCHA Scholar-Athlete honors as a sophomore...2010 All-WCHA Academic team selection...played in 36 games during the 2009-10 campaign with 11 goals and five assists to his credit for 16 points...+4 on the plus/minus...tied for team lead with two SHGs in 2009-10...scored game winner vs. UND on Feb. 12, and also had a GWG against Union on Oct. 17...chalked up two power play goals in 2009-10...scored goal in NCAA tournament win over Northern Michigan o March 26...also had a postseason goal in Final Five win over Wisconsin on March 19 at the Xcel Energy Center.
2008-09: Novak played in all but two games during his first collegiate season...scored first career point Oct. 11 against Mercyhurst at the NHC...charted first collegiate goal against Denver at the NHC on Nov. 15...finished season with 15 points (5g,10a).
Prior to SCSU: A 2006 graduate Catholic Central High School...played junior hockey with Omaha (USHL) in 2006-07 and 2007-08...also played junior hockey with the Canmore Eagles (AJHL) for two seasons...helped Omaha win Clark Cup in 2007-08...scored three goals and nine assists during Omaha¹s playoff run to the championship...89 points in two seaons at Omaha.
Personal: Born Sept. 2, 1988...son of John and Tina Novak of Lethbridge...bio-med major at SCSU...on honor roll in high school.
