2006-07: Stephenson will serve as a team captain in
2007-08...2007 All-WCHA Academic selection...netted career-high 22 assists and
24 points as a junior...had four assists in weekend sweep at MTU...tallied three
assists in play against Union and Vermont at 2006 Catamount Cup
tournament...scored one goal and two assists in
weekend sweep against Minnesota on Feb. 23-24.
2005-06: Played in all 43 games as a sophomore at the
blueline - one of only five players on squad to play in every game of the
season...notched first goal of career on a booming slappshot from the slot that
helped lift SCSU to a thrilling OT win at UND on Jan. 28, 2006... scored goal in
third and deciding game of first round of WCHA playoffs at Colorado College on
March 12, 2006...was impressive +16 on the plus/minus...posted nine assists as a
sophomore...All-WCHA Academic choice and a 2006 WCHA Scholar-Athlete award
winner.
2004-05: Stephenson saw increased ice time as
season progressed...gained team’s William Radovich Award for most improved
player in 2004-05...posted two assists in win over Sacred Heart on Jan.
29...charted first point of career with assist versus Wisconsin on Jan
8.
Prior to SCSU: A standout defender from Nepean,
Stephenson helped his squad win regular season title and Fred Page Cup
championship in 2003-04...participated in Canadian National Junior a
championship in 2004...in 2002-03, Stephenson was member of Cambridge
Winterhawks and was named to league’s All-Star team... 2003 graduate of St.
Theresa’s High?School...also participated in volleyball, basketball and track
and field...qualified for Ontario finals in the 100m
hurdles.
Personal: Born March 3, 1984...son of David and
Liz Stephenson of Midland, Ontario...enjoys fishing, swimming and
golf...marketing major and real estate minor at SCSU...shoots right.
