St. Cloud, Minn. -- The St. Cloud State University women's golf team led by senior Lee Zutz (Red Lake Falls) are the team leader following the first round of the SCSU Husky Classic being played at the St. Cloud Country Club today and Monday.
Zutz posted the low round of the day, a seven over par 79, and is three strokes ahead of the next closest players. As a team the Huskies carded a score of 333. The University of Manitoba is second at 340, Bemidji State is third at 363, MSU Moorhead is fourth at 375 and SCSU Black is fifth at 397.
Sophomores Emily Kerber (St. Cloud) and Shaynna Mann are in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Kerber shot an 83 and Mann fired an 84. Rounding out the Huskies first team are seniors Nicole Peters (Cottage Grove) and Lauren Haynie (Brooklyn Park). Peters shot an 87 and Haynie a 95.
The St. Cloud State Black squad was led by senior Shannon Moran (Bloomington) as she shot a 92. Senior Kayla Nesvold (New Ulm) is tied for 17th with a 99. First year Bailey Conrath (Elk River) shot 100 and is tied for 20th and first year Katie Casper (Grand Rapids) shot 106 for 25th place. Junior Michelle Heimbach (Duluth) is in 26th place after a 112.
The tournament will resume Monday morning with the first tee time scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at the St. Cloud Country Club.
