WOMEN'S GOLF: St. Cloud State to host SCSU Husky Classic Oct. 4-5

St.
Cloud, Minn. -- The St. Cloud State women's golf team will host the SCSU Husky
Classic on Sunday and Monday, Oct. 3-4 at the St. Cloud Country Club. The Husky
Classic will feature five teams from the upper midwest. The players will tee
off at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday and 8:30 a.m. on Monday.
The
competing teams include Bemidji State, the University of Manitoba, Minnesota
State University Moorhead, and Northern State University.
The
Huskies are coming off a team victory at the seven-team St. Benedict Fall Classic
played at Wapicada Golf Course in Sauk Rapids and Blackberry Ridge Golf Club in
Sartell last Saturday and Sunday. The Huskies put together strong back to back
rounds of 334-341 for a 675 total. St. Cloud State led by 12 strokes after the
first day and went on to win by 16 strokes.
Senior
Lee Zutz (Red Lake Falls) finished second overall just two shots back of the
individual champion. Zutz shot rounds of 79 and 82 for a 161. Sophomore
Emily Kerber (St. Cloud) placed third overall after shooting rounds of 81-84
for a 165 total.
The
Huskies will finish up the fall schedule on Oct. 10-11 at the first of two NSIC
Tournaments that will determine the league champion next spring.
