FOOTBALL: Fred Williams Named NSIC Offensive Player of the Week

St. Paul, Minn. -- St. Cloud State junior wide receiver Fred Williams (Milwaukee, Wis.) has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Offensive Player of the Week. The announcement was made by the league office this morning.
Williams caught a school record tying four touchdown passes in St. Cloud State's 47-0 win at Minnesota State University Moorhead last Saturday. He caught scoring passes of five, 31, seven and 11-yards. His third TD reception culminated a seven play, 99-yard drive and was scored with :28 seconds left in the first half. He tied the record held by Ben Nelson (former Minnesota Viking), who caught four touchdown passes in a game three times during his career, all during the 2002 season. Williams previous high was two touchdown receptions in a game, which he has accomplished twice this season. He finished the game with seven catches for 126 yards.
Williams has caught 67 passes for 842 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. He has 2,149 receiving yards during his career and is the the ninth Husky player to surpass the 2,000 yard mark in his career.
Williams and his teammates will host fifth-ranked and undefeated Minnesota State University, Mankato on Saturday in the regular season finale. On the line will be the Traveling Training Kit. Game time is 1:00 p.m. at Husky Stadium on the St. Cloud State campus.
