Rocky Horn |
The two 11-member teams - one composed of players competing in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (I-A) and a combined team representing the NCAA Championship Subdivision (I-AA), Divisions II, III and NAIA - honor players that embody the true spirit of "teamwork" and "giving back" through selfless contributions and commendable acts of kindness.
Horn is the current president of the St. Cloud State University Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and has been a SAAC member since 2005. His involvement in SAAC has included serving as the Community Service Chair in which he coordinated community service projects that included work with Kids Against Hunger, Boys and Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity, Pleasantview I Love to Read Campaign, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
He represented St. Cloud State at the 2007 NCAA National Leadership Conference and served on the NCAA Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee when SCSU was a member of the North Central Conference. He is currently a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) SAAC Committee and has volunteered for the NSIC Community Service Project, a sports camp for underprivileged kids.
On the St. Cloud State campus, Horn has been the Co-President of the Student Social Work Organization and a mentor. He has been a St. Cloud State Math and Science Camps mentor, tutor, and counselor since 2005, monitoring and assisting children in match and science classes. Horn has also mentored in the St. Cloud State Ethnic Studies Mentoring Program, serving as a role model and providing positive guidance for children.
Horn is a social work major and a psychology and ethnic studies minor at St. Cloud State, and expects to graduate in the spring of 2010. He was the recipient of the American Legion Community Service Scholarship in 2006.
A two-year letterwinner on the football team, Horn has been limited in his playing time in 2008 due to an injury. While healthy, he has returned four kickoffs for 106 yards and two punts for 18 yards. During his career, Horn has caught 11 passes for 101 yards and one touchdown.
