NSIC CHAMPIONSHIPS ON TAP: St. Cloud State cross country was idle this past weekend and now prepares for the 2009 NSIC Championships on Oct. 24 at Bemidji State University.
MAROZAS LEADING THE WAY: Junior runner Paula Marozas has been the mainstay for the Husky women in 2009, finishing in the top-three for the team in all three meets this season. The Andover native charted a personal best time of 23:17 at the St. Olaf Invite on Sept. 19.
CHERIF IS MEN'S LEADER: Hady Cherif (Minneapolis), another junior runner for St. Cloud State, has been the first Husky to cross the finish line in all three races this year. Cherif’s best race of the season came at the St. Olaf Invite (Sept. 19), where he charted a time of 26:13.
RESULTS FROM 2008 NSIC CHAMPIONSHIPS: Last year, St. Cloud State men’s cross country squad finished fourth (112 points) at the NSIC Championship, as Hady Cherif became the first St. Cloud State runner to garner All-NSIC honors, finishing in 10th place with a time of 26:27.45. The St. Cloud State women placed ninth last year at the 2008 NSIC Championships with 219 points, and were led by then rookie Keely Rubash (Lisbon, Wis.) who placed 30th with a time of 24:21.65.
