Kearney, Neb. – The 2008 St. Cloud State men’s and women’s cross country squads competed at the North Central Regional Meet today, Nov. 8, and finished in 13th place (375 points) and 18th place (470 points), respectively.
Adams State won both the men’s and women’s race. The men tallied 33 points to take home the championship in the 10,000 meter race, while the women charted 30 points in the 6,000 meter competition.
St. Cloud State was led yet again by sophomore Hady Cherif (Minneapolis, Minn.). Cherif paced the Huskies with a 64th place finish in a time of 33:57.81. Teammate Shamus O’Grady (Coon Rapids) was right behind Cherif with a 65th place mark (34:00.96), and SCSU’s third runner to finish the race was sophomore Dan Allen (Waite Park) in 34:21.16 for 70th place.
Also running for SCSU was junior Ben Wagner (Buffalo) and first years Kyle Neumann (Andover), Luke Jordan (Maple Plain) and Dave Pieper (Plover, Wis.). Wagner finished in 87th (35:17.61), Neumann in 89th (35:29.81), Jordan in 93rd (35:34.61) and Pieper in 117th (37:16.81).
First year runner Keely Rubash (New Lisbon, Wis.) led the Huskies for the fifth time this season, pacing the Huskies with a 45th place finish in a time of 22:29.55. Sophomore Brittany Moffatt (Coon Rapids) and first year Nichelle Rubash (New Lisbon, Wis.) were the next two runners from St. Cloud State to cross the finish line. Moffat ran the race in 23:53.70 for a 98th place finish, while N. Rubash finished in 104th place (24:05.50).
Jackie Rich (Rogers), another first year runner for the Huskies, completed the meet in 108th place (24:21.45), and sophomore Paula Marozas (Andover) was the fifth Husky to cross the finish line in 115th place (24:34.45).
Rounding out the Husky competition was junior Andrea Borden (Merrifield) in 122nd place (25:01.05) and first year Jana Prow (Sauk Rapids) in 127th place (25:07.40).
The Huskies are coached by Seth Mischke and assisted by Mohamed Aden and Travis Hoover.
