The Kassandra Vaness File

2010: First year… Competed in three events for the Huskies in her rookie season… Ran a personal best time of 22:59.1 at the Tori Neubauer Invite, finishing in 57th place… Had a 22nd place finish at the NSIC Championships, crossing the finish line in 23:37.71… Competed in the Central Regionals and finished the race in 23:29.05, earning her 47th place.

High School: A 2010 graduate of Portage H.S., where she was coached by Joe Pease…she earned four letters in both cross country and track & field…she went to state four times and was named MVP four times in cross country…earned multiple Badger North Conference awards…was named All-State one season…was named team MVP three times in track & field while earning multiple conference awards…was also a part of the MWEHL League championship team in hockey.

Personal: Daughter of August and Raedean Vaness...lists making it to nationals for hockey as her greatest sports thrill...also enjoys hanging out with friends, reading, listening to music and playing sports as her favorite hobbies outside of athletics...majoring in physical therapy at SCSU.
