Talisha Barlow Leads Huskies to 78-54 Win

Mankato, Minn. -- St. Cloud State sophomore guard Talisha Barlow (Little Canada) led the Huskies to a 78-54 win over Henderson State University Friday afternoon in the opening game of the Minnesota State University, Mankato Pepsi Tip-Off.

Barlow had a game high 23 points and made seven of 14 baskets from the field, including two of three from three-point range, and seven of nine shooting from the free throw line. Her scoring line also included four assists and four rebounds. Barlow's 23 points were just one point shy of tying her career high of 24 points.

St. Cloud State scored the first points of the game, two free throws by Barlow, and after Henderson State's Riana Miller hit a jumper to tie the game at 2-2, the Huskies went on a 25-12 run to take a 27-14 lead midway through the first half. Barlow scored 13 of her points during that run. The Huskies led 53-37 at half time.

After Henderson State drew to within 14 points early in the second half, the Huskies took a timeout at the 17:07 mark. Immediately following the timeout, the Huskies went on an 8-2 run with Barlow scoring four straight points to bump the lead up to 20 points.

St. Cloud State forced Henderson State into 24 turnovers and scored 33 points off turnovers. The Huskies shot 46.8 percent from the field and were 73.9 percent from the free throw line. St. Cloud State made seven of 16 field goals from three-point range.

All 12 players that dressed for the Huskies played in the game. Senior forward Danielle Ellison (St. Paul) scored 11 points, six of which came from three-point range. Junior captain Katie Tacheny (Woodbury) and sophomore post Rachel Booth (Minneapolis) each had nine points. First year forward Aaryn Booker (Minneapolis) had a game high seven rebounds, including six on the offensive boards.

Henderson State was led by Riana Miller with 15 points, seven rebounds and a game high four blocked shots. Two her teammates, Danyelle Harris and Lesha Jones each had eight points for the Lady Reddies.

St. Cloud State improved to 2-0 on the season and will play Dakota State on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Bresnan Center. Henderson State dropped to 1-1 overall.
