Carol Thelen
Assistant Coach
Carol Thelen was named the St. Cloud State women's assistant basketball coach in June of 2006.
An SCSU Alumnus and Albany, Minn., native, Thelen had been the head girls basketball coach at DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis since 1999. In 2006, she led DeLaSalle to third place in the Class AAA Minnesota Girls State Basketball Tournament. Her 2005-06 squad set a school record for most wins in a season with 24 and were ranked as high as #3 in the Class AAA poll. She is the all-time winningest girls basketball coach at DeLaSalle with a 129-65 won/loss record.
Prior to her stint as DeLaSalle head girls basketball coach, Thelen coached the women's basketball team at the University of Minnesota-Morris during the 1998-99 season. From 1995 to 1998, she was the assistant women's basketball coach/recruiting coordinator at Southwest Minnesota State University. She served as the head women's basketball coach at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls from 1991 to 1995. Thelen was a graduate assistant coach at Minnesota State University Mankato from 1988 to 1990 and a volunteer assistant coach at the College of Saint Benedict during the 1987-88 season.
Thelen's association with Husky athletics began in 1983 when she joined the SCSU women's basketball team. She played three seasons with the Huskies. In her first two seasons, the Huskies advanced to the NCAA tournament and won their final Northern Sun Conference Championship before joining the North Central Conference for the 1984-85 season.
A member of the Albany High School Athletic Hall of Fame, Thelen played on two state basketball championship teams and two state softball runner-up teams as a prep athlete. An active member of the coaching profession, she holds several professional memberships, has been a coach, counselor and director of basketball camps, and makes several speaking appearances during the year. She has also served as the president of the Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association.

Alanna Wahl
Graduate Assistant Coach
Alanna Wahl joins the St. Cloud State coaching staff as a graduate assistant in 2009-10. Wahl is a 2008 graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato where she earned a degree in physical education (teaching) and a minor in athletic coaching.
Wahl was a four-year member of the Mavericks women's basketball team and was named to the NCC Commissioner's Academic Honor roll in 2006 and 2007. She is ranked in the top ten on the career assist list at MSU and was a recipient of the 2007 "Maverick Achievement Award".
A 2003 graduate of Lakeville High School, Wahl played on two girls basketball state championship teams in 2001 and 2002. She was a team captain during the 2002-03 season. She was a two-time All-Conference team member and was named Honorable Mention All-State in 2002-03.
Wahl was the assistant varsity girls basketball coach at Lakeville North High School for the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons and a substitute teacher in the Lakeville School District. She is pursuing a masters degree in sports management at St. Cloud State.
