MEN'S BASKETBALL: Huskies Sign Kenquane Brown of Cooper High School
Wednesday, May 27, 2009
St. Cloud, Minn. -- St. Cloud State University head men’s basketball coach Kevin Schlagel has announced the signing of Kenquane Brown of Robbinsdale, Minn., to a Letter of Intent.
Brown is a 6’4” wing from Cooper High School. He averaged 16.4 points and eight rebounds a game during his senior season. Brown was named the Co-MVP of the North Suburban Conference, an honor he shared with University of Minnesota recruit Rodney Williams. He is an All-Conference player and helped his team to a 25-2 record.
Brown earned Academic Achievement Awards in English, business and marketing from Cooper High School. He is interested in a mass communications major at St. Cloud State.
“Kenquane is a very good athlete that plays bigger than he really is,” said Schlagel. “A tough, hard nosed player, we see Kenquane as a versatile player that can play a couple of different positions. While he played an inside position in high school, we will work with Kenquane to become more of a perimeter player.”
St. Cloud State posted a 22-9 overall record and finished third in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) with a 14-6 league mark. The Huskies won the 2009 Sanford Health/NSIC Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament, making St. Cloud State’s 11th NCAA appearance.
