Matt Reimer
Assistant Coach
Matt Reimer is entering his 13th season as a full-time assistant coach for the Huskies and serves as the recruiting coordinator and director of operations and player personnel. Reimer also served for two seasons as a graduate assistant coach under Butch Raymond in 1995-96 and 1996-97, bringing his overall experience with the Huskies to 15 seasons.
Prior to SCSU, Reimer served as an assistant basketball coach at New London-Spicer High School for four seasons. He was involved with many other athletics; coached football and baseball, and was the head boys and girls golf coach.
He graduated from Central College in Pella, Iowa, where he played basketball for two years and was also a member of the Dutch golf team. Reimer played his prep basketball in Elkader, Iowa, where he was the captain of the 1987 Class 1A State runner-up basketball team.
Reimer completed his master's in athletic administration in 1997. Reimer, his wife Tracy, and daughters Brittany and Kitri, reside in Annandale.
Corey Schlagel
Assistant Coach
Cory Schlagel returns for his seventh season as an assistant coach with the Huskies. He served as a graduate assistant coach his first two seasons. He is currently is in his third year as a teacher in the Albany school district.
If the name sounds familiar, its because he is the nephew of head coach Kevin Schlagel. Cory Schlagel attended Hibbing Community College from 1995 to 1997 where he played guard on the basketball team. He was an All-Conference player his second season and earned Academic All-American honors. He continued his education and playing career at St. Thomas University where he graduated in 1999. Since graduating from St. Thomas, he taught mathematics at Rush City High School, where he was also the assistant girls basketball coach and assistant baseball coach. He is received a master’s degree in mathematics at SCSU in 2006.
Andrew Cone
Assistant Coach
Andrew Cone is in his sixth season as an assistant. Cone is a familiar name at SCSU as he played for former North Central Conference rival, South Dakota State University, graduating in 2002 with a degree in geography and geographical information systems.
At SDSU, he played on four NCAA?tournament teams and two conference championship teams. He was voted team captain in 2001-02 and was an Honorable Mention Academic Team member. He followed that up with a master’s in Athletic Administration in 2005. He served as the men’s graduate assistant basketball coach from 2003 to 2005 with the Jackrabbits.
Andy, his wife Stephanie, and son Calen reside in Sartell.
