The Dugout Club hosted the John Berling Golf Classic on Sept. 19 |
The 2009 John Berling/Goldleaf Plastics Golf Outing on Sept. 19, at the Wapicada Golf Course in nearby Sauk Rapids, was another success story for the Dugout Club and St. Cloud State baseball.
"What a great event for the third straight year with tremendous weather and friendship," event coordinator and Dugout Club Vice President Pete Pratt said. "Husky baseball is extremely proud of all of our supporters, and we look forward to continuing this great event and in the years to come."
The golf outing attracted 151 participants for a sun-filled day on the links at Wapicada. All proceeds from the events go to support the Dugout Club and St. Cloud State University baseball. Participants enjoyed 18-holes of golf in a best-ball tournament format, great food, a few beverages and tournament prizes.
"For the third straight year we had great golf weather," SCSU baseball coach Pat Dolan said. "I want to thank all the Husky alums, parents and supporters of our Husky Baseball Family for coming out. And a special thank you to my number one guy, Pete Pratt for all the work he put into making it a great event."
The winners for the John Berling/Goldleaf Plastics Golf Outing were as follows:
1st Place (at -14):
Dave Rosencrans
Al Supan
Tom Rogde
2nd place (tiebreaker winner at -12):
Fred Herges
Josh Nelson
Pete Rengel
Dave Jacobs
3rd place (at -12)
Dan Berling
Phil Berling
Greg Berling
Jeff Bump
The golf outing capped an excellent weekend of Husky Baseball that featured a scrimmage on Friday night at Whitney Park and the annual Alumni Game at Dick Putz Field on Sunday, Sept. 20. Coach Dolan noted:
"What a great day at Dick Putz Field for our Alumni Game on Sept. 20. There was a lot of Huskies baseball tradition played on this field (Dick Putz Field) and it was a treat to see a great group of alums coming back for our Alumni/Family Weekend."
