BASEBALL: Huskies Name Captains for 2010 Season

St. Cloud State University baseball coach Pat Dolan has announced that Tim Scott, Sam Radbil, Nate Hammes and Pat DeLaHunt will all serve as team captains for the Huskies in 2010.  The foursome of captains were selected for this honor by their teammates, and all four of these players will be seniors during the 2010 season at SCSU.

"These four student-athletes are what we are looking for all of our young players to become.  They all have the 'team first' attitude and they all work hard on the field and in the classroom, which is very similar to our captains from the 2009 season (Chris Koenig, Joe Kroc, Tim Radmacher and Mic Johnson).  They all bring an excellent leadership style with them," Dolan said.

Additionally, the Husky Dugout Club voted on two additional board members. Graduating senior captain and St. Cloud native Chris Koenig and 2008 captain Ryan Tschida recently joined the Dugout Club Board of Directors in June.

"We really wanted to get some young energy in our Husky Dugout Club.  Being a former captain myself and having the great passion for our Husky Baseball Family, I know what it means to be a Husky Captain for Life.  Both Chris and Ryan have lead by example on and off the field," stated current club president Charlie Eisenreich.

"I'm excited to continue my involvement with Husky Baseball.  I know it's my job to keep all our recent Husky alums on board and continue to get other former players involved.  Our coaching staff and the Husky Dugout Club along with the team itself is working very hard on a limited budget.  All I can say is I'm proud to be a Husky baseball alum," said new board member Chris Koenig.

The Husky Dugout Club in only its second year of existence has had over 300 members.  The club¹s primary purpose is to help promote and support all phases of the SCSU baseball program.  In addition to the club¹s membership drive, it also sponsors the annual golf tournament with Goldleaf Plastics and the First Pitch Banquet in January.  The Husky Dugout Club also plans to add new fundraising events this year with a Multi-family Garage Sale, Ice Fishing Contest and Staycation Auction.

"It's truly amazing what this club does for our program.  We've been able to play 25 games in the Metrodome the past two years alone, which is more than any team other than the Twins and Gophers.  They've also helped raise funds for the 'extras' our regular budget doesn't cover," Dolan said.

"When you take a look at this list not only do you see some very talented baseball players, but you see many great men that are still great baseball guys.  Most all of them are already in the club and are working on getting their former Husky teammates involved.  Our goal is to get 100% of our captains back on board and have them help us continue to grow our alumni base.  I was fortunate to be voted a captain two year, and I just want all of our alums to get back involved in our Husky Dugout Club.  It's a great way to not only support our program, but to to also rekindle friendships from the past," current Dugout Club Vice President and Husky Pitching Coach Pete Pratt stated.
