St. Paul, Minn. – It was announced today that SCSU junior David Deminsky was named this week’s NSIC Pitcher of the Week. It is the second time that Deminsky has won the honor this season.
Deminsky delivered arguably his best performance of the year when the Huskies needed it most, as he kept their NSIC tournament hopes alive by pitching a complete game shutout in Sunday’s first game against Minnesota State. He struck out seven on the day and in the process broke the 46 year-old SCSU single season record for strikeouts, totaling 88 on the year.
It was Deminsky’s second straight complete game victory, as he took a shutout into the sixth inning in last Sunday’s game with Northern State. Deminsky finished the season with a 7-1 record with a 3.12 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 66.1 innings. Deminsky also tied the season mark for games started, marking his 13th of 2009.
St. Cloud State ended its season with a 36-18 record, falling one win short of reaching the NSIC tournament. The 36 wins is a new team record, as it was just one of many records broke in 2009 by the Husky Baseball team.
