HIGH SCHOOL: A 2010 graduate of Pacelli High School, where he earned four letters for coach Wayne Sankey…earned All-State honors as a junior and senior…was a three-time All-Conference selection…helped the Cardinals win three conference championships…also lettered three times in football and hockey…a two-time All-Conference selection in football…apart of three conference championship teams…recorded the highest batting average in school history with a .488 average…scored the most power play goals in the state during his senior season…a National Honor Society member.
PERSONAL: The son of Dan and Darci Jurgella of Plover, Wis…named Joe Mauer as his favorite sports personality…lists his dad as having the greatest influence on his career…named hitting a grand slam in his final high school baseball game as his greatest sports thrill…enjoys playing “The Show” and playing sports as his favorite hobbies outside of baseball…major is undecided at SCSU.
COACHES' TAKE: “Michael is a hard working freshman both on the field, in the classroom and in the weight room. He’s only going to get better as he progresses here. He loves the game and always seems to be smiling enjoying this great game.”
