Philosophy BA and Interdisciplinary Program Matrix

Program Matrix: Program structure is defined in terms of three components: (1) The five core areas of philosophy: history, ethics, metaphysics, epistemology and logic; (2) The capstone courses; (3) electives.

Standard Philosophy Major and Major in Interdisciplinary Studies

The first component is satisfied by students taking the following:
history: 251-252
ethics: 301
metaphysics: 302
epistemology: 303
logic: 304

The second component is satisfied by the students taking:
Philosophy after graduation: 450
Senior Seminar: 451

The third component is satisfied by the student taking at least 5 other courses 211-484.

(for the interdisciplinary major, if approved by advisor, students may substitute non-philosophy course for up to four of the five electives).
