M.S. in Geography with Travel and Tourism Emphasis Student Learning Outcomes
1) Students will attain basic graduate-level knowledge in how physical and human factors influence global and local spatial processes and patterns of travel and tourism and are expressed in specific places and landscape
2) Students will be able to identify and distinguish between different theories and traditions
in travel and tourism
3) Students will apply theoretical concepts of geographical research in travel and tourism to a
range of contemporary issues (e.g., ecotourism, mass tourism, convention planning, cultural change, sustainable development of tourist dependent communities) to offer practical solutions;
4) Students will learn to work in collaborative environment and will get exposure to methods
of college classroom teaching and evaluation;
5) Students will conduct original research including theory applications, data collection, and
appropriate hypotheses testing as part of their graduate experience;
6) Students will demonstrate adequate levels of oral and writing skills needed for presentation of their research results in on and off-campus public presentations
7) Upon graduation, students will be able to secure professional employment in a geography field.
