Communication Studies Relational Conflict Minor SLOs

 

SLO #1:

Students will be able to identify and explain key theories related to the role of conflict in interpersonal relationships.

This SLO will be assessed in CMST 321 (Communication and Interpersonal Conflict) beginning with fall ‘09/spring ’10 and this assessment will rotate on an annual basis with the assessment of SLO #4 beginning fall ’10.

SLO #2:

Students will be able to identify and explain a variety of theories of third party intervention.

This SLO will be assessed beginning Spring, 2011 and will be assessed in CMST 429 (Theories of Third Party Intervention).

SLO #3:

Students will be able to demonstrate skill in applying a variety of theories of third party intervention.

These SLOs will be assessed in CMST 429 (Theories of Third Party Intervention) beginning with spring ’11 and this assessment will be conducted whenever the course is offered.

SLO # 4:

Students will be able to perform problem-solving/collaborative communication skills in mediating conflict.

This SLO will be assessed in CMST 428 (Theory and Practice of Mediation) and will be assessed in spring ’10 and in fall ’10 (when it will be put on an annual rotation with CMST 321).

Note:  Because there is such a small group of faculty members teaching these courses, data will have to be collected for several years so that it can be aggregated and not identified with individual faculty members.  This plan is intended to be an indication of when data will begin to be collected, not when an analysis will be reported.
