Undergraduate Business Program Learning Goals and Objectives
Goal 1: Our students will be effective written and oral communicators.
Objective 1: Students will communicate a business idea using appropriate organization, expression, and mechanics.
Objective 2: Students will write competently in their disciplines (assessed in required major courses).
Objective 3: Students will make an effective business presentation.
Goal 2: Our students will be competent problem solvers.
Objective 1: Students will prepare and defend an effective solution to a business case or problem.
Goal 3: Our students will be effective collaborators.
Objective 1: Students will effectively contribute to the completion of group tasks.
Objective 2: Students will responsibly fulfill their role(s) in the group.
Objective 3: Students will cooperate with and value the viewpoints of other group members.
Goal 4: Our students will be competent in the business core.
Objective 1: Students will demonstrate understanding of and apply core disciplinary concepts in business.

Goal 5: Our students will be competent in their respective disciplines/majors. Objectives for this goal are different for each major.
Functional Knowledge
1. Accounting majors will demonstrate knowledge of:
- the accounting model and accounting systems,
- financial reporting standards and practices,
- the importance of accounting information for managerial decision making,
- business taxation, and
- auditing practice.
Critical Thinking
2. Accounting majors will be able to critically analyze information, identify problems, analyze problems, and make decisions.Communication
