Artist Statement

"The Ark of The Living, Breathing Thing" rose up, turned East, headed downstream from where the Gallatin, the Jefferson and the Madison Rivers form the headwaters of the Missouri River, Bozeman, Montana. Outside looking in, from the shore, the Ark would appear to be Thoreau's Cabin placed in a bottle. At the same time, July, 2008, the Ark was placed in Henry's Lake forming the headwaters of the Columbia River. The Ark made landfall at Portland, Oregon on September 3, 2008. The Living, Breathing Thing became part of Paintallica which became part of The Time Based Art Festival, a part of The Portland Institute of Art. To the East, "The Ark of the Living, Breathing Thing" flowed from the Missouri into the Mississippi (at Saint Louis, All Hail Ld Rntmn) turned North, upstream seeking the source, the headwaters, making landfall at "The Paths of Desire", Saint Ambrose University, Davenport, Iowa, September 23, 2008 (watch for the parade along the paths of desire, October 10, 2008). September 24, we embark, moving upstream, North. September 30, mid- river, Justin Quinn greets "the Ark of the Living Breathing, Thing", We ignite "The Burning Cross of Barack Obama". Justin guides us to landfall and portage, Saint Cloud University.”
