Yuria Takahashi"The SCSU art department served as a great first step in the development of my career in graphic design field. Their graphic design courses guided me through fundamental to advanced concepts of the newest technologies, design theory, printing, web design animation, achieving the client's expectations, presentation of my design pieces, and how to apply my knowledge in the workplace. I took advantage of the wide variety of classes that the SCSU art department had to offer. Now, I work as a graphic designer in a large advertising agency, producing advertisements that use both 3D and traditional animation. I feel that if it wasn't for the large selection of classes, I wouldn't had the proper skills needed for a agency environment. I feel fortunate that the experience I gained in the SCSU art department helped me achieve my career goals." - Yuria Takahashi

"SCSU prepared me for the "real world" of graphic design by teaching me the basics of how to use various programs and how to cut a straight line, as well as how to develop my own individual style. The courses were structured but they also gave enough freedom to express myself and to get the most out of every project. The professors became more than teachers to me, they became mentors and friends till this day." - Heather Sagisser

"Art, for me, is a personal statement - something that is not easily taught, or learned for that matter. To completely understand what "art" is, you have to dive into the subject matter. Discovering it's history and meaning can be as powerful as discovering a new medium or technique. All in all, a well-rounded education in the subject matter is crucial to one's development as an artist. I studied in the SCSU Art Department for four years while earning my BFA in graphic design. I worked to finish numerous studio classes while simultaneously learning the key principles of design.  During that time Kiehle became a place where I could explore myself as an artist. With the guidance of both professors and fellow students, I found my own design style and created a portfolio that I was proud to show in the professional world.   Within five months of graduation from SCSU I found a wonderful design position with a company just outside of Madison, Wisconsin. I have worked on numerous projects, including the creation of large custom brochures, designing chocolate and international shipping boxes, creating products and more. The learning process is continual, and I am still discovering more about my profession on a daily basis." - Sarah Budensiek
