Graphic Design Portfolio Review Information and Application
This review is required for those applying to the graphic design major and is for those students that have just completed their foundation courses or those that have no pass from a previous review.
The Preliminary Graphic Design Portfolio Review Application is due on or before 12noon Wednesday, September 18.
Supporting Documentation Submission – 8am-12noon Monday, September 23.
Students submit supporting documentation to the art office between 8am & 12noon September 23. Student will schedule interview when submitting supporting documentation.
Supporting Documentation Includes:
1) Resume: a one page resume of relevant design and art experiences; it should include name, address, and e-mail address. Experience should include the year, place and experience description. Sample resumes are available for viewing at SCSUs Career Services website.
2) Statement of Purpose: a one-page statement describing the reasons why you are applying to the graphic design major. Also include experiences and goals.
3) Student’s Degree Audit Report: obtained on the web through e-services.
4) Major Program Application: student is to complete and sign the major application. Art office personnel will secure adviser’s signature.
Portfolio Artwork Installation – 8am Fri, Sept 27– 8am Mon, Sept 30
12-15 Pieces Required – Students install their artwork on designated wall space in the Kiehle Student Gallery (G10) & Rm G06 beginning 8am Friday, September 27; all artwork must be displayed by 8am Monday, September 30. Installation space is assigned on a first-come first-serve basis. One pedestal per applicant will be available. Computers are not available. Students may bring a laptop or tablet device to interview to show appropriate work in a brief presentation for the reviewers (3-5 minutes). Please note that students are limited to approximately 5' of installation space.
Individual Interviews – Monday-Thursday, September 30 - October 3. Faculty will review portfolios and conduct individual interviews. Portfolio review applicant meets with one or two art faculty members for a 15-20 minute interview to be conducted in the room where your portfolio review artwork is displayed.
Students can remove artwork after 6pm Thursday, October 3; all artwork must be removed by 12noon Sunday, October 6!
Friday, October 4 by 4pm - Portfolio review applicants notified by e-mail regarding status of review.
