Artist's Biography

Curtis Stage was born in Minneapolis, Minn. in 1968 and currently lives and works in Long Beach, Ca. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from California State University of Long Beach in 1994 and his Master of Fine Arts from Claremont Graduate University in 1999.

Curtis has been interested in digital media for the last twelve years. His work includes: Video installations, Single Channel Video, Sound, Digital Prints and Interactive Art. The conceptual focus of his work deals with Structures, Patterns and Identity through language (media) and memory (history). His work often creates pseudo-realities, often lifted from pop culture, which begin to question relationships of the self. Curtis places actors in his work (often the artist himself), which are thrown into crisis, setting up a condition for dialogue and transit.

His work is represented by the Patricia Correia Gallery in Santa Monica, Ca.(prints). Curtis has also shown in New Zealand, Thailand and recently was included in the ScopeCircle for Emerging Artists at Christy’s in Beverly Hills as part of Scope LA Art Festival.

Curtis currently teaches Digital Art at Claremont Graduate University, University of La Verne, and Mission Valley College
