Saigo Honored at Retirement Dinner

SCSU Night at the June 26 Twins Baseball Game
Register by June 8 for St. Cloud State University’s Night at the Dome. The June 26 game features the Twins vs. the Toronto Blue Jays. The pre-game social is 5 p.m. The game is 7 p.m.
Twins’ broadcaster Dick Bremer '78 will be at the social and throw out the first pitch.
The picnic buffet and Home Run Porch admission to the game are $20 per person. Children 12 and younger are $15. Non-alcoholic beverages are provided. A cash bar is available.

Help us promote the University by serving a shift in the Alumni Association booth at the Minnesota State Fair.
SCSU's booth is in the Education Building. Four-hour volunteer shifts are available Aug. 23 through Sept. 3. Volunteers receive a free alumni T-shirt and a State Fair ticket. E-mail us to sign up for a shift.
Ours is the only alumni organization in the MnSCU system to host an individual booth at the Great Minnesota Get-Together.

More than 100 Alumni are giving back to their alma mater through the Alumni Mentoring Program.
The program matches alumni with students. Alumni share insights on the skills, personality, temperament and work ethic required for specific career fields. Students benefit from the experiences of successful alumni.
Alumni assist students, contribute to the University and maintain a connection to their alma mater.
Participants meet at on-campus events that include a keynote speaker and dinner.

SCSU Night at the River Bats
Join us Aug. 8 for SCSU Night at the River Bats.
The St. Cloud River Bats vs. Thunder Bay Border Cats game is 7:05 p.m. at newly remodeled Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud. The River Bats compete in the Northwoods League, a 12-team summer league for collegiate players.
Fox 9 television news anchor Tom Halden '95 will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Cost is $5 per adult. The first 100 children ages 12 and younger, who are registered with adults, will receive free tickets and be entered into a kids-only drawing for SCSU merchandise.
Event postcards will be sent to St. Cloud-area alumni in late June. Contact us to request an invitation.
News Briefs
Construction is underway for an $11.3 million annex to the Robert H. Wick Science Building. The project, which will add 24,000 square feet of lab classroom space to the building, could be completed as early as December 2008.
A 500-stall parking ramp is under construction between Hill-Case Hall and Public Safety. The $9 million project should be in service in summer 2008. The ramp will have 300 daily slots for visitors and 200 overnight slots for students.

President, Carlo Lachmansingh Sales, Inc. Built a multi-million dollar business specializing in commercial, roadway and custom lighting.
College of Education Leadership Award
Marcia Nelson '03
Teacher and night school principal for Anoka Hennepin School District. Participant in the Erin Gruell Education Project and 2007 Minnesota Teacher of the Year semi-finalist.
College of Fine Arts and Humanities Leadership Award
Jack Smith '52
Retired speech-language pathology faculty member. Taught speech-language pathology at various universities. Presents to SCSU classes annually. Established fund to support graduate fellowships and faculty development.
College of Science & Engineering Leadership Award
Joel Goergen '86
Vice President of Technology, Force 10 Networks. More than 20 years experience in high speed analog signaling. Holds 11 patents. Serves on SCSU's Industrial Advisory Council. Donated equipment to SCSU through his company.
College of Social Sciences Leadership Award
Robert Goff '58
Co-Owner, Goff & Howard. Forty years of experience in public relations, public affairs, government and education. Owned various businesses. Pursued employee-focused business practices. Member, SCSU Foundation Board of Trustees.
