Victoria Williams, Director: M.A. from St. Cloud State University in English, and a B.A. in English from the University of Minnesota—Twin Cities. Vicky teaches Reading 110—Reading and Study Strategies, and Reading 120—Power Reading. She also serves as Chair of the Department of Academic Support and is President-elect of the Minnesota Association for Developmental Education.

Gretchen Starks-Martin: Ed.D. at Syracuse University in Adult Education and Higher Education Administration, M.A. at Western Michigan University in Teaching of Reading, B.A. at University of Michigan majoring in English Education. Gretchen is a professor for both Reading 110 - Reading and Study Strategies, and Reading 120 - Power Reading. Gretchen is on the Executive Board for the College Reading and Learning Association. Some of her hobbies include: Canoeing, Kayaking, Skijoring, Reading, and Dogsledding.

Cari Kenner: Cari teaches Reading 110—Reading and Study Strategies, and Reading 120—Power Reading. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota, her master’s degree from the University of Texas in Brownsville, and her doctorate degree from the University of Houston. Off campus, she enjoys weight lifting, canoeing, and bicycling.

Deborah Biorn:  Deborah teaches Reading 110 and Reading 120.  She received the Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Olaf College, Northfield, MN, and the Master of Arts degree from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA.  Additional graduate work included courses mainly at Northern State University, Aberdeen, SD, and Saint Cloud State University. Before teaching on the university level, Deborah taught secondary English in Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, and New York; she has taught in the English Department at Saint Cloud State University since 1996 and joined the Academic Learning Center in 2007.  Her extra-curricular activities include reading, traveling, gardening, knitting, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Alex Walter (Graduate Assistant): B.A. in English with mnors in Theatre and Medieval Studies. He is currently working toward an M.A. in Engish with an emphais in Medieval Studies/Literature. Alex enjoys reading and writing during his free time. He is also an avid video gamer, especially role-playing games. His main responsibility in the Academic Learning Center is working with the Tutor Program.

Angie Walswick (Graduate Assistant): B.S. Social Studies Education with concentrations in history and psychology.  Angie has taught high school social studies, and is currently working towards her Master's degree in College Counseling and Student Development at SCSU.  Angie enjoys playing volleyball, backpacking, and many other sports and outdoor activities.

Emily Simon (Graduate Assistant): B.A. Sociology from Southwest MN State Univesity. Currently working toward an MS in College Counseling and Student Development, with a special interest in Career Counseling. Emily enjoys scrapbooking, reading, spending time with family, and relaxing.

Karen Paavola (Office Manager): Karen works half time for the Academic Learning Center and half time for the Math Skills Center. She enjoys anything that pertains to the outdoors.
