Victoria Williams, Director: M.A. from St. Cloud State University in English, and a B.A. in English from the University of Minnesota—Twin Cities. Vicky teaches COLL 110—Reading and Study Strategies, and COLL 120—Power Reading. She also serves as Chair of the Department of Academic Support and is Minnesota/North Dakota/South Dakota Regional Director for the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA).
Cari Kenner: Cari teaches COLL 110—Reading and Study Strategies, and COLL 120—Power Reading. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota, her master’s degree from the University of Texas in Brownsville, and her doctorate degree from the University of Houston. Off campus, she enjoys weight lifting, canoeing, and bicycling.
Kirstin Bratt: Kirstin Salma Ruth Bratt was raised in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, and is very happy to have found her way back home after living in many other interesting places. She has degrees from Saint Olaf College, Saint Cloud State University, and Northern Arizona University. Her research interests revolve around the literature and linguistics of immigrants. She is diligently at work with writing projects, including editing volumes of essays on North African literature and writing poetry and fiction.
Gregory Phillips: Gregory completed his PhD at Washington State University in composition and rhetoric.He also has an MFA in creative writing from Hamline University in Minnesota. As for the focus of his work, he's interested in rhetoric of peace and love, discovering our sameness. Of late, in regards to teaching students in the ALC, his work is focused on developing academic confidence.
Deborah Biorn: Deborah teaches COLL 110: Reading and Study Strategies. She earned her B.A. from St. Olaf College (Northfield, MN) and her M.A. in English from the University of Iowa (Iowa City, IA). She does volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity and Foster Grandparents and previously for AmeriCorps in a Head Start program. Her activities include reading, traveling (especially to see her grandchildren in PA and GA), tent camping, biking, sewing, and knitting.
Joshua Lobejko: Josh teaches COLL 110 - Reading and Study Strategies. Josh obtained his bachelor's degree in German from SCSU. He then continued his studies at Saint Cloud State and earned his Masters in Teaching English as a Second Language. Josh enjoys spending time with his family and keeping up with the lastest news and technology developments.
Courtney Vorell: Courtney teaches COLL110 – Reading and Study Strategies. She has a bachelor’s degree from Miami University and a Masters in Educational Psychology from the University of Colorado. In her free time Courtney enjoys spending time with her family and being outside.
Terren Duran: Terren is a Graduate Assistant in the Academic Learning Center for the tutor program. She is currently completing her M.S. in Higher Education Administration at St. Cloud State and she earned her B.A. in Spanish for Business & Latin American Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. In her free time she volunteers tutoring young latino students. She also enjoys staying active outdoors, cooking and baking, and spending time with family and friends.
Anna Urbanski: Anna is a Graduate Assistant for the Academic Learning Center. She received her bachelor’s degree from Ball State University and is currently in her second year of the M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis program. She enjoys cooking, working with kids, and anything related to the arts.
Karen Paavola (Office Manager): Karen works half time for the Academic Learning Center and half time for the Math Skills Center. She enjoys anything that pertains to the outdoors.
